The Junior Duke Award

We are offering the Junior Duke Award to all of our children at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School. This exciting and rewarding program is designed to support children in developing important life skills and gaining confidence through a variety of fun and engaging challenges.

What is the Junior Duke Award?

The Junior Duke Award encourages personal development by challenging children to step outside their comfort zones and learn new skills. The program focuses on building independence, resilience, and perseverance while ensuring that the activities are enjoyable and age-appropriate.

Key Benefits of the Junior Duke Award:

The award supports children in several areas, including:

  • Skill Development: Encouraging students to learn practical skills such as cooking, budgeting, first aid, and more.
  • Physical Activity: Promoting a healthy lifestyle by including physical challenges and outdoor adventures.
  • Problem-Solving and Initiative: Teaching children how to approach challenges creatively and with confidence.
  • Community Spirit: Fostering teamwork and service to others, through activities that benefit the school and local community.
  • Independence and Responsibility: Helping children take responsibility for completing tasks and developing self-reliance.

How the Program Works

Children work towards completing a series of challenges in various categories such as practical skills, fitness, teamwork, and creativity. As they complete each challenge, they will earn points and work towards achieving their Junior Duke Award. The program is designed to be flexible and fun, allowing children to work at their own pace and enjoy the learning experience.
